Frame width pop-up menu

To change the width for the line and shape tools, choose a size from this pop-up menu.

Pointer tracking pop-up menu

To change whether the pointer starts at a corner or at the center for center-corner type tools, choose an option from this pop-up menu.

Anti-aliasing pop-up menu

To change the anti-aliasing quality used by various tools and filters, choose an option from this pop-up menu.

Selection border pop-up menu

To show or hide the animated dashed image along the borders of the selected paint, choose an option from this pop-up menu.

Layer pop-up menu

To change which layer the selection, eye dropper, and bucket tools work on, choose an option from this pop-up menu.

Selection slip pop-up menu

To change how selection tools slip over paint, choose an option from this pop-up menu.



Polygon tool

To draw a multi-sided polygon, use this tool.

To constrain a side to a straight line, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Oval tool

To draw an oval, use this tool.

To constrain to a circle, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Round box tool

To draw a rectangle with round corners, use this tool.

To constrain to a square with round corners, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Box tool

To draw a rectangle, use this tool.

To constrain to a square, hold the shift key down while drawing.


Line tool

To draw straight or angled lines, use this tool.

To constrain to a straight line, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Fill bucket tool

To fill areas of like color with a different color or pattern, use this tool.

To adjust how the Fill bucket tool colors paint, choose Set Tolerance from the Layout menu (or double-click here).

Brush tool

To draw using a square, circular, or custom shape, use this tool.

To constrain along a line, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Choose different brush shapes from the Brushes palette (found in the Sample palette or in the View menu).

Pencil tool

To draw using a small single-pixel dot, use this tool.

To constrain along a straight line, hold the shift key down while drawing.

Text tool

To create titles using various fonts, font sizes, and styles, use this tool.

Eraser tool

To erase paint from the active document, use this tool.

To constrain along a line, hold the shift key down.

Erasing paint reveals the current film color, if one is selected, or the movie image underneath, if transparent film is selected.

Color pick up tool

To pick up a fill color from the active document, use this tool.

- To set the frame color, hold the command key down.

- To set the film color, hold the option key down.

Zoom tool

To enlarge or reduce the view of the active document, use this tool.

Grabber tool

To view parts of the document which are scrolled out of view, use this tool.

Lasso tool

To select a free-form area in the active document, use this tool.

To constrain to a straight line, hold the shift key down while dragging.

Marquee tool

To select a rectangular area in the active document, use this tool.
